Just found out about a new movie comming out this fall: Time Changer. Looks interesting, what do you think? Not much of a time machine though. |

Posted At 12:37:10 09/25/2002 Sorry, Here it is: WWW.timechangermovie.com Stars in it are: Gavin MacLeod (Love Boat), Hal Linden (Barney Miller), Jennifer O'Neill (Summer of 42') and Paul Rodriguez. Their time machine looks like actors in front of the Windows "pipes" screensaver ;-) |

Posted At 20:30:18 09/25/2002 Well...I won't be checking that one out at all! Gavin McLeod has been too long at sea... Hal Linden has eaten too many donuts...and Jennifer O'Neill posed too long in front of the camera for a fashion magazine published in 1942...Paul Rodriguez??? I can see it all now... the Time Machine with a Spanish twist! No thanks! |

Posted At 21:41:21 09/25/2002 I ment to add that their time machine had a round platform, ray guns (3or 4) and two big wooden levers. Kinda like "Honey, I shrunk.... And,not that It matters much, this is a Christian film. |

Posted At 00:26:38 09/26/2002 Synopsis: "19th century Bible professor travels to future and is shocked by immoral ways of the people of the year 2000 !" :-((( This "movie with an agenda" appears to have been made to "piggyback" on the anticipated success of DreamWorks' remake of The Time Machine... Tough luck !!! |

Posted At 20:19:27 09/26/2002 Yes, my friends... Try as they may, they still just can not beat the first film, can they? Rod Taylor was and still remains the quintessential Time Traveler...Yvette Mimieux, his Weena! Give me the George Pal film over them all! And, of course, the classic work of H.G. Wells! |

Re: New movie: Time Changer (Currently 0 replies)
Posted At 16:09:59 09/27/2002 Yes Bruce! Rod Taylor was indeed the man born to play the role of the time traveller. There's never been another actor, then or now. who could have played the part to such perfection. Not only a handsome man, but equiped with the perfect voice to narrate his journey to his friend's. Yvette Mimieux is the epitome of beauty and innocence and Alan Young steals your heart away, what a friend! George Pal pure class! |

Posted At 16:53:53 09/27/2002 Ady.... you are indeed a descriptive soul! I love the phrases you wrote! But to be very selective, I must go all out here and say that Yvette is not only the epitome of beauty (very good tribute!)... she is an ABSOLUTE BABE! Alan Young... YES! He is the perfect friend!'True blue' as they say! George Pal... the guy exudes pure class! His movies are his legacy and we all owe him so much for taking us along on his visionary journey to the future! Thank the lucky stars that we can take the DVD version of that journey whenever we wish! Pop it in the DVD player or the computer DVD drive...and you are off again! And speaking of that... what a collection of stills I have saved from the movie! That is a treasure I have dreamed of for years: owning a collection of color stills from the "Time Machine"... ones that I can actually make prints from! Dreams do come true! |

Posted At 18:11:37 09/27/2002 Go Bruce! Go all the way, any time you want. No one can match your superlatives for this film. love the idea of making your own colour stills, i'll get back to you on that! |

Posted At 20:50:09 09/27/2002 Ady, it's called "WinDVD" or "PowerDVD" Both will allow you to snap ultrasharp stills from any single frame on any DVD. But please, let us not compare "Time Changer" with a true classic. "Time Changer" is just an excuse for propaganda. It will most likely show only in very select areas like most of these types of movies. |

Posted At 08:31:56 09/28/2002 Thank's for the advice Francois. I get the gist of what you say, but don't fully understand everything? As this is completely unchartered territory for me? Please feel free to explain it to me in baby talk. |

Re: New movie: Time Changer (Currently 0 replies)
Posted At 13:53:24 09/28/2002 Ady: First, I am assuming that you have a DVD reader on your computer and that your computer is a PC. To play your DVDs on your computer, you not only need hardware (the DVD Player), but also, software. Often, basic DVD software comes with your video card or DVD player, but it does not include an image capture feature. "WinDVD" and "PowerDVD" are just that: software. The full versions of these programs are much more sophisticated than the basic versions and include a "snapshot" feature that allows you to save any frame on any DVD as an image file (bitmap, jpeg, etc.). This is done simply by clicking on a snapshot button in the DVD software. |

Posted At 19:11:10 09/28/2002 With any system you use, arn't you limited to 640x480 resolution? (video rez) |

Re: New movie: Time Changer (Currently 0 replies)
Posted At 15:24:10 09/29/2002 The DVD standard is MPEG-2 480x705 which is pretty sharp. The capture appears to maintain that resolution. |

Re: New movie: Time Changer (Currently 0 replies)
Posted At 23:09:48 09/30/2002 To add to what Francois has posted... the saved images from a DVD can be sharpened a bit more with a good photo software program... and other features can enhance the saved shots as well... brightness, contrast, color, etc. I have saved shots from The Time Machine, War of the Worlds, and quite a few other films, mostly, the old fifty sci-fi hits that I could find! Any DVD can be an excellent source of saved scenes... excellent for a scrapbook, don't you think? For my own purposes, I use the saved image files for use in planning some of my art. A photo album of the Time Machine in still images can be a fan's ultimate collectible! |

Posted At 21:02:23 10/09/2002 What is with all of these sudden travel movies? There's another series on the network called "That was Then" about some fellow who gets struck by lightning and goes back in time to his high school years. Uhm..yeah. *gag* I'll take 2002, 1960 or the book itself over all of these wannabes anyday! |

Posted At 15:19:17 11/01/2002 Just got to this message board, had trouble signing in, ok now. I just saw Time Changer, it's not what you think, It's a Christian Film with a good message, I enjoyed it but it's not in our area of time travel films nor do I think that the producers of the film were trying to cash in on the recent Time Machine. It caught me because of time travel theme, but I left saying "I'm glad I saw it", it's not for everyone (it is) but Christian films do not draw as many people has they should. |

Re: New movie: Time Changer (Currently 0 replies)
Posted At 19:59:45 11/01/2002 Well, it's not an accident that a movie based on a Victorian man who invents a Time Machine is released right after the DreamWorks remake !!! ;-))) As to it being a "Christian film", that's been made plainly obvious on their website. Incidentally, I never said they were trying to "cash in", but rather to take advantage of the anticipitated success of the DreamWorks remake - in terms of attracting a wider audience than they might have otherwise. |
