Greetings During my analysis of images obtained from the movie, it appears that there were changes made to the control lever during the filming of the movie. The upper metal cap between the crystal and the tapered marble piece becomes "beefier" in various scenes. My theory is that the neck of the crystal broke (perhaps more than once) during the filming and the metal piece had to be changed in order to reinforce and finally replace the broken crystal neck. You can see how "gingerly" Rod Taylor handles the lever as the film progresses, making sure that he does not grab the crystal alone. Just an observation. |

Posted At 16:50:18 03/07/2004 Hi Alan Though, i don't know if your theory is right or wrong, about the lever? You certainly don't notice the marbling effect on the lever when George/Machine becomes encased in the mountain of lava. The lever looks totally green,(during this scene) and more slender. So you might have a point? |
