Angelo Crespo's rendition of the Time Machine is absolutely stunning! It captures the wonder of what it was like to behold that wonderfully ornate Victorian masterpiece on the screen for the first time! My sincere thanks to Angelo for sharing his vision with us! |

Posted At 12:15:13 11/30/2003 Bruce, I agree. Very Nice! If you think about it, the Time Machine lights kind of go with Christmas. The colors and the flashing. I have a very crude full size Time Machine I got off of eBay a year or so ago and have it in my garage. Maybe you saw it. One night last week I turned the lights on (and flashing) and a relative came to see us and was astounded by the "machine" and the lights. She thought it was very cool. She hasen't seen the movie because she asked "What is it?" Same question asked in the movie. |

Posted At 20:23:38 12/01/2003 I know that experience, Gary! When I finish a model of the machine or one of the Morlocks, my wife and daughter both take a sudden bit of interest in it! Must be all that Victorian charm the machine exudes... irresistable! How fortunate you are to own a full-sized replica of the machine! What a beautiful Christmas gift that would be!!!! Along with a checker-floored greenhouse/lab to store it in! |

Posted At 22:43:30 12/01/2003 Thanks Bruce. I do enjoy it even though it is a crude replica. Unfortunatly, my floor is concrete. But I really don't care because I feel fortunate just to have it. It's fun. As with most, it reminds me of my childhood, and it is one of my favorite movies of all time. I recently purchased a model from Don and am currently assembling it. If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate the comments. Thanks. |

Posted At 23:11:53 12/12/2003 Gary...it will depend on the version of the model you wish to build... but if it is the upgraded version of the Masterpiece kit... by all means, follow the instruction sheet closely... I am in the stages of building one for Susan Mitchell, for whom I have made a previous introduction on Don's website. The model is sort of intricate with its electrical components, but on the whole, an experienced builder of resin kits should have little difficulty with it. I am presently endeavoring to rework the wiring on the control console's 'time-key' ( as Masterpiece refers to the crystalline lever ) to enable it to activate the spinning dish on the machine when pushed into an upward position. It is known to many on this site, that Masterpiece Model's website buildup has the lever in a downward position when the dish is activated. I am told, however, that it is possible to 'reverse' the wiring so that the lever will spin the dish by being pushed up, as it originally appeared in the 1960 film. More on this as my work progresses. The kit has a good deal of flash and extraneous moulding plastic left on certain parts, but a rotary tool can easily remove this. Pay careful attention to the enclosed drawings by Chris Perrotta to get the parts dtailed correctly. His 'blueprints' are a valuable aid in the buildup process ( and a great addition to any collection ). I would suggest doing the chair cushions in a burgundy flocking effect. The results are rather pleasing and it is a technique used by a few other builders of the Time Machine kits. The model has one feature I find disagreement with... Installation/removal of the 9 volt battery. In order to do this after completing the kit, it is nescessary to lift off the entire 'time generator' unit ( motor behind the chair )in order to change the battery. Because of this, the side rails cannot be glued into permanent position on the generator's power cones and the generator bolts must be removed. But, to counter this inconvenience, there is one alternative: purchase the AC adapter referred to in the instruction sheet and operate the machine off household current ONLY. Using this method, the rails can be glued, as the generator remains stationary. I hope this info will help you in your TM buildup. |
