After having watched the DW re-make of The Time Machine, I was just wondering why DW or anybody else did not decide to make George Pal's own sequel that was written many years ago. It HAS to be better than the re-make which in my opinion was BAD!!! Hopefully even getting Rod Taylor to play a major role. Was there legalities or too much money for the rights involved? Thanks.

Before DreamWorks decided to do The Time Machine, Arnold Leibovit - who owned the rights to any sequel or remake to Pal's movie - was looking at many options, one of which was the Pal/Morhaim sequel novelized and published by Dell in 1981.

When DreamWorks became interested, they simply decided to go for a remake because they believed the Pal original was dated and that any sequel thereof would be "out of step" with Hollywood's current way of making movies. They wanted a "fresh" start.

1981 Pal sequel could be done as a TV movie but the production should be of good quality (not like 1978 TV film), If Arnold has the rights, B. Burns has the orignal machine and The three main characters are still
alive somebody should try real soon to do it.

I too would very much like to see a movie sequel to the original 'Time Machine' movie.

Not only would I like to see George Pal's written sequel made into a movie, I would also like to see Rod Taylor's George saving the life of Alan Young's David Filby by convincing him to go in the original machine with him. Perhaps the footage of the eight minute sequel from 'Time Machine: The Journey Back' could be included in the TV movie. I would also like to see Yvette Mimieaux's Weena along with the surviving Eloi cast and some time travel sequences into our times and beyond without the molten rock.

If there is going to be a sequel to the original movie, which I very much hope will be the case, I hope it will be made soon.
