For all those wondering about the animated feature "The Time Machine" announced on the Australian "ezydvd" website:

This feature was produced in the U.S.A. by DIC Entertainment, commissioned by the Nickolodeon movie channel as part of a series of Sunday afternoon animated movies (called "Sunday Movie Toons") based on various popular subjects as well as classic stories.

This movie, as well as others such as "The Amazing Zorro", "Treasure Island" and "Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea", apparently began airing last fall on the Nickolodeon channel and should be available on DVD this September.

All should keep in mind that it is a series geared primarily at children. DIC entertainment is best know for the animated series "Inspector Gadget", "The Archies" and "Dennis the Menace"... One wonders what their take on The Time Machine is !

Ahh... Francois...that should be great news to those select few who have asked about the animated version! But I will opt for the George Pal version as being the best! Anyone know of a good, reputable place to purchase the candid TM stills from? I would like to build up my collection of black and whites and color stills from the Pal movie! If you can help and you know of a good price, please respond! Thanks fellow travellers!

"...tank you for the info would be ok..." I stand corrected, Jake. I hope that your curiosity will be sedated in some way by the news. I remember the Dic Entertainment animated features... rather silly and childish. H.G. Wells deserves a far more mature treatment than that! I do not recall mentioning in my post that few have WONDERED about it... I DID say that few have ASKED about it...excepting, of course, yourself. Before you sling any arrows, please get your facts straight. I will retract one thing I said, however.... and you are right, Jake... it doesn't sound like "great news" afterall.

I hope this is not going to turn into another endless debate. I only posted the information in an attempt to clear up the matter.

If indeed it is of no interest but to a select few, then I do hope that those few will benefit from it.

I think I made it amptly clear that this animated version was aimed mainly at children. As to the merits of the production, I cannot judge something I have not seen.
