Hello,Everyone;
Well, I have been debating whether or not to post this
message. But,then I decided that I wanted to save someone out there, who may be considering buying one of
Masterpiece Model's Time Machine buildup or has one currently on order, some grief and trouble.
Back in early April, I posted a message asking if anyone had received their buildup of the Time Machine.
I had mine on order for 1 year and finally received it
in late April. You can imagine my excitement on arriving home and finding the package on my front door. With great anticipation I carefully opened the box within a box and found the model packed in foam rubber and affixed to a block of dense styrofoam material with
tie-wraps. Several pipe cleaners were used to secure the more delicate portions of the machine. Despite the
average packaging the model itself was damaged in several areas.
One chair arm was broken, the upper railing had
come unglued all the way around. The wire light bulb cages were bent and broken. Three of the insulators on the main housing had come unglued.
I sent the company an e-mail outlining the damages
and the company responded that they are "an easy fix" using superglue. I have not begun the restoration process but will shortly. Unfortunately, I was not thinking properly and should have filed a damage claim with FEDEX and didn't consider it until after the 15 day window had passed. I suppose that Masterpiece should had either done so or advised me to do it.
I am posting this information as a followup to my previous inquiry. I would like to suggest to anyone that either has one on order or is considering ordering
one in the future to seriously consider how the model
will be packaged and how it will be shipped. If I had
it to do over I would have requested the model be
packaged "professionally". After all it is artwork and
delicate and expensve. I would have also requested special handling with Fedex and not allow it to be shipped "ground service".
If anyone would like pictures in order to be informed send me your email address to "QWHO51@cox.net" and I will send them to you.

Wayne,
Aside from the shipping damage, how would you rate the Masterpiece finished model overall? That is, accuracy in assembly, the painting, so on?

Average. Some of the smaller detail painting left
a lot to be desired. Brush strokes apparent. Edging
not so neat, paint uneven on back of dish. Some of the wiring inside the pods are visible through pod even when
unlit. Rim drive wheel unsightly from back. No caps
on nuts that attach drive assembly to base. That is
very disappointing. The nuts were not even painted.
So they stand out quite vividly.
But, it's nice to have in my home theater.

Strictly speaking, there are no caps over the nuts on the real Machine. However, the bolts are cut off just about the edge of the nuts. So I suspect what you mean is that the bolts stick out markedly over the nuts. Is that so ?
