Ady, I was very surprised when I discovered the blood smear while researching details on the machine. I could not for the life of me believe that George Pal, or MGM for that matter would let something like that get into a final edit of a film. It could have been simply that ... A) They never noticed it...or if the editor did noticed it, he never notified Pal. B) The budget would not allow a reshoot. C) they noticed it too late in the post-production process to re-stage and re-shoot that closeup. D) the only one that noticed was Rod Taylor himself...who may have realized he was bleeding well after the take and never realized it was that obvious in the shot. E) we all have much too much time on our hands...so to speak. I believe that someone has also found that Rod Taylor was wearing a band-aid on his finger in one or two shots. DVD's are a wonderful thing! |
