Spotted a position error in George's lab, When he watched the clock to see the hands speed forward in time it was facing him and the machine. If no one went into the lab for 5 days how did it get turned 90 degrees towards the camera when he broke the window of the door to get back into his lab? New movie, Alex forgot to pull up the steps into his machine the first time he traveled back in time, but remembered to pull it up when he traveled to the future. Looking for other errors, Not encluding the ones already noted on this site or Don Brockways' site. |

Posted At 03:12:14 03/14/2003 I've looked at most of the trivia/goofs on Don colman's and Don brockway site! I think Carl Piermarini's find is the most unusual! Where Rod Taylor smears blood from a cut finger around the top of the side rail. Hard to see on the video, unless you know where to look, but very easy to see on the dvd! The only obvious thing i've noticed, is the change in position of the sundial. |

Posted At 21:30:10 03/19/2003 Ady, I was very surprised when I discovered the blood smear while researching details on the machine. I could not for the life of me believe that George Pal, or MGM for that matter would let something like that get into a final edit of a film. It could have been simply that ... A) They never noticed it...or if the editor did noticed it, he never notified Pal. B) The budget would not allow a reshoot. C) they noticed it too late in the post-production process to re-stage and re-shoot that closeup. D) the only one that noticed was Rod Taylor himself...who may have realized he was bleeding well after the take and never realized it was that obvious in the shot. E) we all have much too much time on our hands...so to speak. I believe that someone has also found that Rod Taylor was wearing a band-aid on his finger in one or two shots. DVD's are a wonderful thing! |

Posted At 22:13:46 03/22/2003 Yes, Carl.... I was the one who picked that 'band-aid' out and it is present here, on Don's site! I agree... the DVD of "The Time Machine" far exceeds the videotape version! |

Posted At 17:44:18 03/24/2003 Funny thing is... they could have corrected all of this when they digitally restored the film for the DVD release. |

Posted At 11:29:22 03/26/2003 Yes they could remove the errors in the DVD, but I feel that's ok to leave them in as it also shows how well they did with film considering the time when it was made, plus we have had 40+ years to find these mistakes,(any excuse to watch it again). There must have been some accidents in the film, ie the cut/blood on the console (left hand) and a band-aid on the (right hand) when he was in the cave with Weena. |
