Hello Time Machine Fans. This is my first post here. Though I have been visiting Don and Mary's site for quite awhile. I have some news that you might find of interest. There is a web site of artists and 3D enthusiasts. Sponsoring a monthly challenge. One of this month's themes or challenges is to build a Time Machine. The idea is that you have a month to model a machine in Rhino (A 3d modeling program) and the best machine wins. I think the Prize is a Rhino hat, so this is really just for the fun of doing it. By coincidence I have been using Rhino to model a replica Time machine as a hobby for quite awhile. So I posted a few screen captures of it, and posted them in the Rhino forum. I disqualified myself because I had already started well before the contest started. I'm not sure if membership to the forum is required to view messages or not. I think you only need to join, if you want to post. Membership is free at any rate. It's probably best to keep your little kids away from the site, as there is quite a bit of nudity in some of the other artist's sections. Be sure to search the Rhino 3D Forum for "Time machine" and look at the entries in the contest. Some very creative people are making some very interesting machines. These will get even better as the contest nears its end. If you're interested here is a link to my post. Posted At 19:54:46 02/13/2003 Great work Roy. I look forward to see the finished model. I looked at the other entries. There were very few and none of the others were based on either Wells or Pal, unfortunately. I hope there will be more before the end of the month. |
