My favorite phrase in the Universe, aside from the words "I Love You" whispered gently in my ear from a woman's lips, is the simple phrase "What IF???" Perhaps this is why "Time Travel" remains one of my favorite themes to see on film. It lets you dream the question of "What If" I had turned Left, instead of Right. Ask that one woman I cared about to marry me instead of the Man she did. Look in one place, instead of another and come home richer, instead of poorer. Film has always allowed me to ask some of those questions. Some of my Favorite Films and TV shows of the past are #1. (Everyone's favorite) "The Time Machine" #2 Tyrone Powers "I'll Never Forgot You" (still looking for a copy of this one for my collection, it has nver been in print) #3 "Disaster in Time" with Jeff Daniels. This has my favorite line about time. "There is a Purpose to Time...I keeps Everything from happening all at once." #4. "12:01" not the movie, but the half hour original. A man caught in a "Causality Loop" that repeats every 30 minutes and he is the only one on the planet that knows what is happening. (classic) #5. Last episode of the (Really Terrible) "Logan's Run" tv series, a man from the past projects himself into the future to see what information about the future he could take back with him. In the final five minutes, he sends one last message back to the future, telling everyone that it was "HE" that became the reason the world went mad and destroyed itself. Time Travel was veiwed as the "ultimate" weapon and so all the other countries launched all their wepons immediately. (great ending) #6. "Time Cop" for pure fun. #7. & #8. any episodes of the "Dr. Who" or "The Time Tunnel" SO WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITES???? Best Regards, Rassilon |

Posted At 13:21:11 01/04/2003 Well Rassilon, I'd put money on there being an endless collection of phrases out there in the universe. I've alway enjoyed the idea of time travel in Film. And as long as you don't question these imaginary journey's, then the ride has the abillity to take you somewhere else for a short while, especially when the kids have gone to bed!;-))) I don't think there are many people, who could resist the chance of a peek in to the future or past if it were TRULY possible! But i don't think anything like that is on the cards for the foreseable future! I've never been able to understand how it would be possible to fast forward the present? My favourite SCI-FI film is The Time Machine!!! In my opinion there's no other sci-fi film that comes close! I like other sci-fi films, but they don't really deal with time travel i.e Forbidden Planet, The day the earth stood still. etc. Just got to say! ROBBY THE ROBOT, is the second most beautiful movie prop ever made! |

Posted At 00:45:37 01/07/2003 You know I rememeber seeing that Logan's Run episode maybe 10 years ago, and thought it was very good, it is one I always remember. Remarkable considering the rest of the series. I think I have the password thing worked out....will see. |

Posted At 09:10:04 01/09/2003 The 2002 Time Machine is my all-time favorite. I have never seen Logan's Run..everyone keeps telling me to watch it. Stargate is another favorite. I used to watch the TV series "Sliders" a good deal -- someone builds a portal to travel "through time" in different dimensions. So you could conceivably see what the world would be like if X had happened. |

Posted At 16:59:53 01/16/2003 My all-time favourite time travel movie is, of course, George Pal`s "Time Machine"! But there are also other great movies and TV shows dealing with time travel; for example the "Back to the Future"-Trilogy and some Star Trek-Episodes (e.g. the excellent "City on the Edge of Forever"(Original Series) and "Trials and Tribble-ations"(DS9)). |

"The Girl from Tomorrow" Parts I & II (Australian series) 3. "Mirror Mirror" (New Zealand series) 4. "The Time Game" (Another Australian series) 5. "Back to the Future" (The Cartoon series) 6. "The Time Tunnel" My favourite episodes in the following TV series have time travel in them: 1. "Star Trek" (All series from the original to "Voyager"). 2. "Inspector Gadget" (Episodes where Inspector Gadget, Penny and Brain use a time machine) 3. "The Twilight Zone" (The original series) 4. "Captain Planet and the Planeteers" 5. "Lost in Space" The original movie version of "The Time Machine" is my favourite time travel movie and my favourite time travel adventure of all time. I didn't enjoy the 2002 Simon Wells version as much but I enjoyed it none the less. One other movie I like doesn't involve a person travelling to another time but it shows a change in one's personal history - "It's a Wonderful Life". It's my favourite classic movie in second place to George Pal's "The Time Machine". I will have other favourite time travel movies, TV shows and episodes in time to come. |

Re: Favorite Time Travel Movies (Currently 0 replies)
Posted At 04:31:15 01/31/2003 Just as 'The Time Machine' (1960 George Pal version) is my favourite time travel movie of all time, my more recent favourites are the ones in the 'Back to the Future' Trilogy. I consider all of these time travel movies classics and none of them have been bettered. My favourite 'Back to the Future' movie is 'Part II', mainly because of its futuristic ideas in the 2015 setting. The other parts I like are the alternate version of the 1985 Hill Valley and the remake of the 1955 setting. My favourite predictions made in a movie are the ones in 'Back to the Future - Part II' and some of the predictions have come true such as flying cars, hoverboards and colour newspapers. What I like about all three 'Back to the Future' movies are the different eras, the adventures, the clever story lines, the action, the humour and the characters. I can see parallels between these three movies and the two movie versions of 'The Time Machine' such as characters at different ages, the saving of lives, romances, loyal friendships, and the differences and similarities among the different eras. The biggest parallels are the time machines staying in the same space or area while time travelling and the inventors of these machines having so many clocks in their collections. I love all of these time travel movies. I've watched them many times already without getting tired of them, and I'll continue to watch them again and again in the years to come. |

Posted At 19:33:14 03/07/2003 Movies: Time Machine(60&02), The Time Travelers, BTTF series, Millenium, Time After Time, Freqency, Somewhere in Time, Final Countdown, Philadelphia Project, Contact, World Without End, Beyond the Time Barrier, Terminator series, 12:01, and Timecop. T. V. series: Time Tunnel, Star Trek time travel stories (original and STTNG), Quantum Leap, and there are about 6 great stories on the new Outer Limits (5 are on dvd disc).I'll mention Sliders but I've never thought that was time travel, just alternate universes, and Stargate but that was crossing the universe quickly not time travel, but 2 stories did take them back and into the future. Those are my picks. |

Posted At 19:51:20 03/29/2003 "Run, Lola, Run" may or may not qualify as 'time travel' but it certainly shows how a slight change in your actions can cause severe changes in your time line. I was reminded of it when I caught it on Bravo last night. German independent film with English subtitles. |
