I stepped over this website when searching for information on what in my opinion maybe is THE greatest movie of all time. Saw it for the first time 15 years ago when I was a nine-year-old boy and fell in love with it immediately! Since the DVD version has been released, I watch it sometimes three times a week and it never gets boring. George Pal really was a genius; it is simply unbelievable that he was able to create such a masterpiece with the small amount of money he had to work with! The actors were great, too; Rod Taylor not only plays, he IS the Time Traveler (every time I read the original H.G. Wells novel I imagine the figure of the Time Traveler being him). I like him most during the Time Travel passage through the 20th Century when his face expresses all the wonder and curiosity about what is happening around him. And Filby as played by Alan Young is such a human, touching character! Of course, the storyline also has its weaknesses (e.g. Eloi speaking perfect English 800 000 years in the future a.s.o.), but all in all this movie has something the new dreamworks version completely lacks, although it`s quite entertaining as well. It is completely magical! And so is this wonderful site: not only a source of information, but a piece of art! P.S.: If there are any grammatical mistakes within this post, sorry for that!
